Let’s face it; organizing our belongings is one of the last home chores we set out to do. We usually like to put off until we absolutely have to, like when an important guest is coming over or when we finally discover the mold growing in the corner of the shoe cabinet. But it’s obviously not a good idea to wait until it becomes a massive insurmountable task to clean up, room-to-room without taking time off from work or getting professional help.
Fortunately, there isn’t one black and white way to establishing an effective cleaning and organizing system for your home. You don’t have to be a neat freak either. Sometimes, the biggest results come from the simplest and easiest cleaning and organizing techniques.
#1: Create a Checklist of To-Do’s
As with any kind of system, it’s best to have a check-list of things to do. With a checklist, you can ensure you don’t overlook any part of your home; you can mentally prepare yourself for what needs to be done and pace yourself accordingly; and you can prioritize tasks, among others.

#2: Accomplish One Task Per Day
It doesn’t matter how big or small the chore is, what matters is you do it. Doing one chore per day will help build up that positive habit. In addition, over time, you’ll see the results of your efforts. If you can finish one chore per day, who knows, you might just finish two chores the next, and then three the day after, and so on.

#3: Start With the Hardest
Yes, that’s right, if you dread cleaning the kitchen or the bathroom, you’re better of cleaning these areas first. By accomplishing your hardest task before any of the others, you not only remove your biggest obstacle block, but doing so will even motivate you to finish smaller and easier tasks.
