Winter is coming, and with it comes chilly weather that’s terrible for being outside but perfect for curling up in bed. The holidays are the perfect time to spruce up your bedroom and make it work for you. From warm bedding to comfy pillows, the following bedroom décor ideas will give you an excuse to stay in bed all day:

Winter-ify your bed

bed is most likely the biggest and most prominent feature in your bedroom, so piling it up with big fluffy pillows and changing your bed linens will surely have a huge effect on the feel of the space. Stay warm while keeping a luxuriously low-key vibe in the bedroom by investing in some linen bedding. Its lovely texture offers an “elegantly rumpled” look, and the material is versatile enough to transition you from summer to winter. Other fabrics worth looking at also include flannel and velvet.

Volume is a big part of cozying up your bedroom—you want to make it look like something you could sink into. For this, you’ll need a nice down comforter, fur throw, or a big, chunky knit blanket and lots of cushy pillows, all in white. Not only will these feel gloriously comforting, but all that white will catch the winter sunlight and give your space a nice, warm glow.

Switch on the low lights

Lighting makes such a big difference in the feel of any room, so get ready for winter by adding some low, soft lighting in your sanctuary. Replacing your bedside lamp’s light bulb with one that has a lower wattage and a warmer tone is a great way to start.

Add a little dark and get fuzzy

It’s hard to say why dark colors make any space feel cozier—maybe because it reminds us of the womb? Nevertheless, cozy up your bedroom by adding bedding or curtains in a rich, dark color like violet or maroon, or if you’re brave, paint the whole room. Then, embrace a mix of textures with fuzzy rugs, throw pillows, or blankets that make your space a warmer, more pleasant place to hunker down.
